Feeling creative?  Come to the Delmont Area Writer’s Group (aka DAWGs) and write away!  The DAWGs meet the second Wednesday of each month, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, in the library of the Delmont Presbyterian Church.

The group concentrates on creative non-fiction and memoir writing,  but welcomes all genres. Participants are encouraged to bring  at least four copies, double spaced,  of any personal writing project he/she would like to share with the group. In order to accommodate everyone who wishes to share, readings are limited to five minutes or 250 words. Members support each other with “gentle critiquing,” whether or not the writer intends to publish.  In addition to readings, prompts are suggested  for timed writings during the meeting, as well as for inspiration for future projects.

Past exercises have included writing one’s own obituary, school day memories, family anecdotes, and many others in prose and poetry.

A Grandmother’s Love…a collection of essays produced by the group, was privately published. Proceeds from the sale of the book were donated to the Delmont Library.
